Inframe News – Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona will meet in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase after the full fixture schedule was confirmed on Saturday, August 29. The reigning European champions will host Barcelona at the Parc des Princes on October 20. The match is one of the biggest fixtures created by this season’s league-phase draw.
PSG entered the draw as defending champions after winning the competition for the second consecutive season. The French club was placed in Pot 1 alongside Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Barcelona were also among the top-seeded teams when the draw was held in Monaco on August 27.
The two clubs were drawn against each other as part of the new 36-team league-phase format. Every team plays eight different opponents, with four matches at home and four away. The eight opponents are selected from all four seeding pots under UEFA’s draw rules.
UEFA confirmed that PSG will host Barcelona on Tuesday, October 20, with kickoff scheduled for 9 p.m. local time. The fixture will be PSG’s third league-phase match of the campaign. Barcelona will travel to Paris after opening their European campaign at home against Feyenoord on September 9.
PSG’s European campaign begins on September 9 against Slovan Bratislava at home. Their second match will be an away trip to Manchester City on October 14 before the Barcelona game six days later. PSG will then travel to Villarreal in November and host Roma later that month.
Barcelona’s opening fixture comes against Feyenoord at the Camp Nou on September 9. Their second league-phase match is away to Galatasaray on October 13, giving the Spanish side only a week between that game and the trip to Paris. Barcelona will then host Aston Villa on November 3.
The schedule also gives Barcelona another major European fixture against Manchester City. That match will take place at the Camp Nou on December 8, meaning Barcelona will face two of the tournament’s strongest clubs during the league phase. PSG will also meet City earlier in the campaign, with the French champions traveling to Manchester on October 14.
PSG’s complete league-phase schedule includes home matches against Slovan Bratislava, Barcelona, Roma and Galatasaray. Their away fixtures are against Manchester City, Villarreal, Aston Villa and Como. The French club will play its final league-phase match at home against Galatasaray on January 27, 2027.
Barcelona’s eight opponents are Feyenoord, Galatasaray, PSG, Aston Villa, Sabah, Manchester City, Sporting CP and Como. Four of those matches will be played at the Camp Nou, while the other four will take place away from home. The league phase runs from September 8 through January 27.
The Champions League continues to use the league-phase system for its third season. The 36 participating clubs are placed into one overall table instead of traditional groups, with each team playing eight matches. The top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16, while teams finishing ninth through 24th enter the knockout play-offs.
The PSG-Barcelona meeting will also be played during a busy period of the European calendar. PSG will face Manchester City only six days earlier, while Barcelona will arrive in Paris after their October 13 match against Galatasaray. The two clubs will then continue their league-phase campaigns through November, December and January.
